In part 2 of In The Make-Up Bag, I’ll be covering how to create the perfect brows, the best Mascaras, Eyeliners, Lip pencils and Lipsticks!
…Pukka up ladies…
I like a strong eyebrow but in NO way do I want to create/resemble the famous scouse brow. For me my go to product for the last year has been Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade and I love it! (The Woman is a genius, all of her products are amazing!). The Dipbrow Pomade is great for creating fuller more defined brows. Again with this product a little goes a LONG away, I have had this little pot for over a year now and reckon I’ll have it for around another 6/7 months! Practice makes perfect with this product and after watching 100’s of YouTube and Instagram videos I have finally mastered the application process, so make sure you watch the experts on how to apply. You definitely need the right tools to be able to apply this product perfectly and I highly recommend the Anastasia Beverly Hills Mini Duo brush. Use the comb end to comb your brows and also to blend the product in after application. For the actual application I use the slanted end of the brush, it’s the perfect thickness/length to be able to apply the right shape and consistency. The Dipbrow Pomade is for a fuller more defined brow so if you want to create a more natural light brow your best off using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer, both fantastic products! Following this I apply a little Eyeko Brow Gel to keep my brows in place all day as well as adding a little definition. This is by far the best brow gel on the market and it’s coloured which means when your in a hurry you can just apply this and go.
I looooove liquid eyeliner, I think I have probably worn it everyday for the past 10 years and it’s as much of a staple to making up my face as foundation and mascara is! Over the years I have tested so many but for a true black line (either thin or thick) I always use L’Oreal Superliner Black Lacquer. It does not budge, smudge or transfer and lasts all day/night! I could not recommend this liquid eyeliner enough and it’s super easy to apply!
For more natural days, I have converted to H&M’s Liquid Eyeliner in Afterglow and I’m now on my 3rd one! Its a copper/bronze colour which really complements my green eyes but works well on other eye colours too (so far I have my sister-in-law and Aunty totally hooked!). It comes in a wide range of vivid colours, perfect if you like to play around with your make-up and experiment with colours, and at £4.99 it’s a total a bargain! Mastering the art of application can be a little tricky especially to a liquid eyeliner virgin as the nib is pretty thin but stick with it, it’s worth it for the colour and it’s durability alone!
Another great way to enhance your eyes is by using a nude kohl pencil on the lower rim of your eyelids. This will brighten your eyes but doesn’t look as stark as a white kohl pencil can. This one from H&M is a bargains at £2.99!
Mascara would be without a doubt my desert island product! I love nothing more than super long thick lashes, although I’m a bit of a mascara whore and swap from one product to another if they promise to give me bambi like lashes! Currently I am using Estée Lauder’s Sumptuous Extreme which is really nice and long wearing. It took me a little while to get used to the big mascara wand but once I mastered that I was pretty impressed with the results! I also received a sample of Chanel’s new mascara Dimensions De Chanel and now I am totally hooked, it really does create 3 dimensional, fluttering eyelashes. I did get a little black under my eyes later in the day which was a little disappointing but for the false lash affect it created it’s worth it! Nonetheless, the majority of the time I try not to spend a huge amount on mascara as I seem to go through them SO quickly, therefore one of my high street favourites and one I find myself going back to time after time is Max Factor Master Piece Max, it really does create ultra long fab lashes and at £9.99 you can’t go wrong. In my opinion Max Factor really are the masters of mascara, they do what they say and are reasonably priced!
As you can see I am a bit of a lipstick and lip liner nut, once I get obsessed with something I buy the full range! 9 times out of 10 I will always use a lipliner to line my lips and fill my actual lip in, I find this makes my lipstick last much longer throughout the day, then I will apply a matte lipstick. As you can imagine this can really dry my lips out so I always carry a pot of Carmex with me, sometimes applying before I line my lips depending on the condition of my lips that day. Once a week I use a lip scuff to get rid of any dead/dry skin, this one from The Body Shop is by far the best on the market and really conditions your lips. Colour wise I usually head straight to MAC as they hands down have the best and largest range of colours. For quality wise Charlotte Tilbury is my go to girl as her Matte Revolution lipsticks are the most moisturising! There are a few cult lip liners that I couldn’t live without (Spice by MAC being my fave) but the rest of the lip liners and lip pencils pictured above are actually from Primark and are just as good as other’s currently on the market!
As stated above, once I become obsessed with something I tend to buy the full range! And that’s exactly what happened when I discovered Revlon’s new Ultra HD Matte Lip Color (currently 3 for 2 in Boots). These are a cheaper take on MAC’s Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick and in my opinion are just as good. These are ultra hydrating and have a luxe feel when on your lips. The range of colours are great from nude to vivid red, and although they don’t last for hours since they have a lipgloss application feel they are easy to apply while on the go! Definitely worth the £8.99 price tag!
Hope you have enjoyed the read Ladies!
